Out On A Limb.

“The master was furious. ‘That’s a terrible way to live! It’s criminal to live cautiously like that! If you knew I was after the best, why did you do less than the least? The least you could have done would have been to invest the sum with the bankers, where at least I would have gotten a little interest. Take the thousand and give it to the one who risked the most. And get rid of this ‘play-it-safe’ who won’t go out on a limb. Throw him out into the utter darkness.” -Matthew 25:26-30

I struggle with this story because of our human tendency to lose focus when money gets involved, but the encouragement is worth the struggle. The very breath in our lungs is a gift - worth far more than money - how are we going to invest it? Will we play it safe? And isn’t it such a joy to know that the God who created all things is after the Best… in us… in our completeness together? Will we go out on a limb? Maybe our hand will get slapped back by someone - maybe multiple someones… but maybe it won’t. Our we willing to take our Saviour’s hand, trusting He is perfectly Good, staying in the present moment - no more yesterday - no more fear of tomorrow - and Live into the Infinite Now? My curiosity is piqued to say the least, but above all - I don’t want to settle for the lesser, let alone the least, when He is looking for the best and is willing to see it through for us and in us. Lord, make it so. Amen.
