My Father’s House.
Mark 4: 35-38 Late that day he said to them, “Let’s go across to the other side.” They took him in the boat as he was. Other boats came along. A huge storm came up. Waves poured into the boat, threatening to sink it. And Jesus was in the stern, head on a pillow, sleeping! They roused him, saying, “Teacher, is it nothing to you that we’re going down?”
39-40 Awake now, he told the wind to pipe down and said to the sea, “Quiet! Settle down!” The wind ran out of breath; the sea became smooth as glass. Jesus reprimanded the disciples: “Why are you such cowards? Don’t you have any faith at all?”
41 They were in absolute awe, staggered. “Who is this, anyway?” they asked. “Wind and sea at his beck and call!”
As sure as Jesus found peace because He was in His Father’s House, regardless of the storms that raged, we are offered this same Surety. There is no place in this entire cosmos that we are out of His House - out of the range of His Love or His Omnipotence.
We find in this story that the cause of our fears isn’t God’s lack of control, but our spirits; our spirits, our heart and our reasoning are bent back to ourselves, dependency on ourselves and our own pride, reason, and understanding….
“But anyone who runs to Me for help will inherit the land, will end up owning my holy mountain!” -Isaiah 57:13
We need a new Spirit… “Someone says: ‘Build, build! Make a road! Clear the way, remove the rocks from the road my people will travel.’” -Isaiah 57:14
So, He made a way for us so that we too may have a Spirit of Surety in Him. He cleared the rubble of our old, self propagating spirit by displacing it with His Spirit of Surety… So we can depend on His Love and Omnipotence instead of self. We are in Our Father’s House. Once we see our fractured ways, humanities fractured ways, we will long for Pure Love.
“A message from the high and towering God, who lives in Eternity, whose name is Holy: ‘I live in the high and holy places, but also with the low-spirited, the spirit-crushed, and what I do is put a new spirit in them, get them up and on their feet again.” -Isaiah 57:15-16
This is His House.
